L to R: Board Chair, Commissioner Crystal Froese, Commissioner Kelly Baxter, The Honourable Brian Hendrickson, and Moose Jaw Mayor and Commissioner Clive Tolley.

The Moose Jaw Police Service and the Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners hosted a Swearing-In Ceremony on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. The ceremony took place in the new multi-purpose classroom within the Moose Jaw Police Service headquarters.

Kelly Baxter of Moose Jaw was sworn in as the newest member of the Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners. The Honourable Brian Hendrickson, Judge of the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan, administered the oath.

Baxter says it’s an honour to be sworn in and chosen as the next member of the Board of Police Commissioners.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity and looking forward to serving the community,” says Baxter.

Baxter will be getting right to work in her new role, as she will be attending her first board meeting on Wednesday, July 10. She is looking forward to learning more about the work the board and Moose Jaw Police Service does.

“It’s going to be a lot of learning. I’m looking forward to being present, listening to all the information, and getting my feet wet with the role,” adds Baxter.

Board chair, Commissioner Crystal Froese was on hand to bring greetings and congratulate Baxter on her new role.

“We’re excited to have Commissioner Baxter on board with our team,” explains Froese. “It’s really exciting to see the diverse set of skills that we have with our Commission. I think she’s going to bring some good expertise and another perspective, which is important when working with the Commission and our team here at the (Moose Jaw) Police Service.

Baxter will replace Commissioner Nicole Swanson, who resigned after re-locating outside of Moose Jaw.

We would like to thank Commissioner Swanson for her time served on the Board.
