Firearm Seizure

On October 4, 2023, at approximately 11:48 a.m., members of the Moose Jaw Police Service’s Community Policing Division and the Criminal Investigation Section (CIS) executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1300 block of Hochelaga Street West.

As a result, Police were able to locate and seize a long-barreled firearm within the residence. Police later discovered the seized firearm was previously reported stolen.

A 72-year-old male is facing several firearms-related offences, which include the unsafe storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a firearm obtained by commission of offence, and a breach of a release order.

The male has been released with conditions and will make his first appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released once they become available.
